Rectors welcome 2022-2023
A new academic year is beginning at Mater Ecclesiae!
In August we received 24 new seminarians from various dioceses: Colombia, Peru, Uganda, Nigeria, India and Australia. And also this year we welcome new priests from Haiti, Zambia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mexico, India, China and probably two more from Nicaragua.
We thank God for these new priests and seminarians, as well as for two new formators who have arrived at the College, Fathers Pierre Salabert and Brian Wilson.
This year 2022 we have updated the Statutes of the College, again approved by the Dicastery for the Clergy on the Solemnity of Pentecost on June 5, 2022. Also this year we received the news that the Holy Father Francis had named a Legionary of Christ, H.E. Msgr. Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, a cardinal in the consistory that took place on August 27. Both events have filled us with joy and gratitude to God our Lord.
The world is living this new year with uncertainty. The political, economic and ecological situation of many countries is of concern. No one knows what will happen in the future and how some world events will evolve. We place this year in God’s hands, trusting fully that He is pulling the strings of history and guiding us on the right path. Let us seek to be good Christians, good seminarians, good priests, to serve God and our brothers, configuring ourselves each day more and more to the Heart of Jesus.
I ask you to please pray for us. Thank you very much.
P. Enrique Tapia, LC. Rector
